Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Service Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for customers seeking automotive services, ensuring a seamless experience from service request to completion. This role requires a strong understanding of automotive service management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to upsell services effectively.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and assess their automotive service needs.
- Document customer concerns and service requests accurately.
- Provide detailed explanations of recommended services, including shocks and struts, air brake systems, and tire services.
- Collaborate with mechanics to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
- Manage cash handling transactions with precision and integrity.
- Upsell additional services and products based on customer needs and vehicle condition, where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and service history.
- Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and encourage repeat business.
- Must be able to solve problems.
Requirements
- Proven experience in auto service management or a similar role within the automotive industry.
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems, to include suspension, engines, transmissions, brakes, tires and wheels, and other automotive systems.
- Sales experience with a focus on close customer service.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Experience with cash handling procedures is essential.
- A background as a mechanic or in automotive service is advantageous but not required.
