Penske Automotive Group is seeking a results-driven and strategic Automotive Sales Manager to lead and expand our used car operations at one of our premier San Diego County dealerships. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with a strong background in pre-owned vehicle sales and inventory management who is ready to take their career to the next level.
We’re looking for a dynamic leader who can develop and grow the used car business, including managing inventory turn, sourcing vehicles, increasing volume, and ensuring strong front-end and back-end gross. You must be able to coach, motivate, and lead a sales team to success while focusing on operational excellence and delivering a best-in-class customer experience.
You may be a top-producing used car salesperson ready for leadership or an experienced manager with a proven track record in pre-owned retail. Either way, if you thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment and have a passion for building and scaling a high-volume used vehicle operation, we want to hear from you.
Pay for this position is $8,000/month salary plus commissions. Expected annual pay is $165,000 to $200,000/year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive and grow the used vehicle department to meet and exceed volume, gross, and inventory turn targets
- Lead, train, and develop a high-performing used car sales team
- Manage and source inventory, including trade-ins, auctions, and other acquisition channels
- Maintain optimal inventory mix and pricing strategy
- Partner with F&I and service departments to maximize overall profitability
- Focus on customer satisfaction, retention, and long-term relationship building
- Analyze market trends and implement innovative strategies to stay ahead of the competition
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of automotive retail management experience, with a focus on used vehicles preferred
- 2+ years of automotive retail sales experience
- Proven ability to manage used car inventory, pricing, and acquisition
- Track record of producing strong volume and profitability in a competitive market
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and coaching skills
- Highly organized with the ability to multi-task and drive results in a high-energy environment
- Flexible schedule and a professional, career-oriented presence
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
