General Manager – Automotive Dealership
The General Manager is the leader of the dealership, overseeing New and Used Sales, Financial Services, and After-Sales (Service, Parts, and Collision). This role is accountable for store performance across all departments, ensuring profitability, customer loyalty, and associate growth.
You’ll be the driving force behind a high-performing culture: attracting and developing top talent, building strong manufacturer and vendor relationships, and creating an ownership experience customers can’t get anywhere else.
What You’ll Do (Day-to-Day)
- Set the vision & direction: Establish clear goals and strategies for all departments, ensuring alignment with dealership targets.
- Lead from the front: Be present in the showroom, service lane, and office, modeling accountability and customer-first focus.
- Build high-performing teams: Recruit, mentor, and retain exceptional associates across sales, service, finance, and admin.
- Drive sales & profitability: Develop and execute strategies to hit unit, gross, and fixed operations targets.
- Manage finances with discipline: Oversee budgets, forecasting, expense management, and financial reporting.
- Champion the customer experience: Ensure a seamless, transparent, and exceptional customer journey in every interaction.
- Optimize operations: Monitor inventory levels, marketing efforts, compliance, and vendor/manufacturer partnerships.
- Innovate with technology: Leverage dealership management software and new tools to improve efficiency and customer engagement.

What We’re Looking For
- High School diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- 5+ years of senior automotive retail leadership experience (GM, GSM, or Director level)
- Proven ability to set strategy and achieve results in all dealership departments
- Strong financial and operational acumen with P&L accountability
- Demonstrated leadership in attracting, coaching, and retaining talent
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Tech-savvy with dealership systems, Microsoft Office, and digital retailing tools
- Valid in-state driver’s license and clean driving record
